Selection Criteria for Legal Ecosystem Grants

Legal Ecosystem Grants are for legal capacity-building organizations that make it easier and/or more likely for low-income and/or underserved communities to get the best possible legal information, legal advice, and/or legal representation in civil law matters and meet the following criteria:

• Have 501(c)(3) charitable status or a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)(3) charitable status;

• Have a significant presence in New York State;

• Commit to helping clients achieve grater access to justice, power and equity in the legal system; and

• Are not currently funded by the Legal Services Corporation

FurtherJustice prioritizes organizations that are led by people of color and/or led by people who are representative of the community or communities that the grantee organization serves.
